The Auditor General of Puntland, Hon. Osman Mohamud Ali (Qaroofey), submitted the FY2025 Annual Audit Report on the state's public accounts to the House of Representatives on 30 June 2026, meeting the statutory deadline set for the office each year.
Following the tabling of the report, he met with the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee to review progress on transparency, financial oversight, and the protection of public assets.
He briefed committee members on the office's recent work, operational constraints, and strategic plans for strengthening financial oversight. The Committee called for faster implementation of audit recommendations and stricter follow-up on unresolved findings. Members also requested the office to expand its performance audits, which evaluate whether public spending delivers value and results, rather than just compliance with regulations.
The Committee reaffirmed its full support for the office's mandate to strengthen accountability across all state institutions.
